The short answer is YES! Myofascial release is great for every body. Even if you have no chronic pain or acute pain, MFR can help you feel your best. MFR can be very relaxing, as it releases stored stress from the body. We are all subjected to forces of life (gravity, stress, repetitive stress injuries etc.) Myofascial release can help undo these effects and help you feel more comfortable. The sessions are very relaxing, and promote optimal health by moving your body and mind into self-healing mode.
This will not be a typical massage session. Myofascial and Craniosacral work are performed without lotion or oils. Please come to your appointment with clean, dry skin, free of any lotions, oils and perfumes. You're welcome to bring a pair of loose fitting shorts, and for women, a sports bra. These modalities engage the fascia, which is a connective tissue that exists under your skin, surrounds every muscle, organ, bone, and even keeps your organs in place. All of the techniques are gentle. Robyn will place her hands on different areas of your body, and work to release fascial restrictions that are preventing your body from functioning optimally.
Absolutely! Robyn treats bodies of all ages. Both Myofascial Release and Craniosacral Therapy can be helpful for a variety of infant and childhood challenges from tongue ties and lip ties to sensory processing disorders and recovery from any type if injury.
Occasionally, a person feels measurably better immediately. If you've been in pain or discomfort for a long time, it can take some time to begin feeling better. There is no formula to determine how long healing takes. Rest assured that as your body takes over and makes changes that support your balance and health, you will feel better.
My current hourly rate is $160 per hour. NJ 6.625% sales tax is included in that number.
If you would like a longer treatment, you are welcome to book two appointments back to back.
Currently, most insurance companies do not pay for massage or bodywork. If you wish to submit an invoice to your insurance company, you will be provided with a superbill upon request..
In the world of healing, there's a concept that a person needs to feel worse before they feel better. This may not always be the case, but it can happen. The tissues of your body have memories, and as stored trauma is released from these tissues, it can be painful as things heal. It can look like a new pain, or a worsening of an old pain. This is your body finally taking the time to heal something that has remained unhealed! While uncomfortable and sometimes scary, a therapeutic pain, or "healing crisis" indicates true healing. I recommend you continue treatment if this happens. Being treated as soon as possible can support that healing process, and move you to the next level of health faster.
Every body is different, therefore every body responds differently to treatment. The most important question you need to ask yourself is "How good do I want to feel?"
I suggest that you commit to a minimum of 6 - 10 sessions. Once the body begins releasing, the process of MFR gets easier and your results get better. The choice is yours. If you've been struggling with something for a long time, it's important to get treated as often as possible. Once you reach a place where you feel like you want to maintain feeling good, you can come as often as you like. The body is always being subjected to physically repetitive movements and environmental stressors. This can look like a weekly session, or a monthly session.
You are in charge of your healing pace. If you want to come and get treated twice in one day, or every available day for as long as you want, you can do that. Getting treated in sessions that are closer together can bring you relief and results faster. When applicable, I will also give you self-treatment tools and suggestions so that you can help yourself too!
